The Light in Our Lives

By Mark Carroll

Theme Verse: Matthew 5:13-14Jesus is the light of the world, as He declares in John 8:12. Those who follow Him will not walk in darkness but will have the light of life. This light is not just a guide but a transformative presence in our lives.

John 3:19-21 further explains the contrast between light and darkness. People often reject the light because their deeds are evil. However, those who live by the truth come into the light, showing that their deeds are done in God. Similarly, 1 John 1:7 tells us that walking in the light as Jesus is in the light brings fellowship with one another and cleansing from sin through Jesus' blood.

Being the Light to Those Around You

As believers, we are called to walk in the light and be examples for the Kingdom of God. Matthew 5:14-17 and Ephesians 5:8-21 encourage us to live as children of light, demonstrating goodness, righteousness, and truth in our daily lives.

Sharing the Light of Jesus

Living in the light is not enough; we must also share it boldly with others. 2 Timothy 4:2 urges us to preach the word, be prepared in season and out of season, correct, rebuke, and encourage with patience and careful instruction. Romans 10:8-15 emphasizes the importance of preaching the gospel so that others may hear and believe.

Jesus' last words in Matthew 28:19-20, Mark 16:15, Luke 24:47, and Acts 1:8 command His followers to go into all the world, preach the gospel, and be witnesses to the ends of the earth. Romans 1:16 reminds us that the gospel is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, and 1 Peter 3:15 encourages us to always be ready to give an answer for the hope we have, with gentleness and respect.

Practical Ways to Shine the Light

There are many ways to reach people with the light of the Gospel. These include using tracts, engaging in conversations, building relationships, and taking advantage of open-air opportunities when God provides them. It is also important to pray for opportunities and divine appointments to share the light of Jesus.

Conclusion

As believers, we are called to be ready, not ashamed, to be witnesses, preach, and tell the world about Jesus. Let us shine the light of Jesus in this dark world, fulfilling our duty as followers of Christ.

Let us always "BE READY," "NOT BE ASHAMED," "BE A WITNESS," "PREACH IT," "TELL THE WORLD ABOUT IT," and "SHINE THE LIGHT OF JESUS" to everyone around us.

Let's pray for strength and opportunities to be the light in this world.
