How Secular Music Affects our Spiritual Life
Ecclesiastes 7:5 "It is better for a man to hear the rebuke of the wise than to hear the song of fools."
Why we should be very careful with secular music. Music has a big impact on us. It can change how we feel, think, and even our spiritual beliefs. Even though there are positive songs out there, it's important to realize the spiritual influences behind a lot of today's popular secular music.
Some secular music talks about violence, bad behavior, and conducts against God's words. Satan, the prince of this world, manipulates the industry, influencing artists to propagate his agenda using the music to affect our lives.
Listening to songs that praise evil things or make us feel good about what the Bible tells us is wrong can bring more of that into our lives making us distant from the voice of the Holy Spirit.
Just like music was used to calm Saul in the Bible, secular music can bring negative influences.
Many secular musicians have openly acknowledged feeling controlled by outside forces when creating their music. Some describe feeling possessed or influenced by evil spirits during the songwriting process.
The results of listening to secular music are serious, It dulls our spiritual discernment, numbs our conscience to sin, and distorts our perception of reality.
Constant exposure to violence and immorality makes us more aggressive, impatient and less sensitive to sinful behavior.
Also, some secular music can open spiritual doorways inviting oppression, addiction, and mental torment. The idolization of musicians and celebrities is leading many astray from biblical truth.
Entertainment has become an idol in society, consuming our time, resources, and attention. It's wise to be selective with our music choices, prioritizing godly worship, and seeking discernment from God, that way we can safeguard our hearts and minds against the influence of secular music.
1 Corinthians 10:31 "So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God."
Good job!
